2011 Premier's Awards: Innovation

Categories

In 2011, the Premier’s Public Sector Awards will showcase innovation in the NSW Public Sector, in particular new project and program outcomes which deliver value and success for the sector and community in the following categories:

  • Customer service, the Premier’s priority category, focuses on front line customer services to the community. This category recognises approaches, practices and solutions that achieve excellence in customer service for the community or individuals.
  • Innovation in front-line deliveryrecognises the people delivering front-line services. This category comprises two sub-categories:
    • Managers recognises excellence in management which empowers public sector front line employees to innovate and take individual responsibility for achieving better service outcomes, and
    • Front-line staff recognises individuals or teams who use their knowledge of customer needs to innovate and make services more responsive.
  • Innovation through technology recognises innovation through the use of technology and e-government platforms to enhance public access to services, reduce costs, and improve outcomes for the community or individuals.
  • Regional innovation recognises innovation in service delivery to respond to the needs of regional communities
  • Devolving decision making recognises innovation by public service managers and policy makers in delivering to local entities the power to create tailored, responsive and accountable local service solutions.
  • Leadership and collaborative practice recognises practices and creative solutions that facilitate cross sectoral approaches to responsive service delivery.
  • Excellence in delivery is a broad category which recognises individuals or teams who achieve the highest quality delivery outcomes and on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Infrastructure recognises innovative solutions to infrastructure challenges and advances the development of effective, sustainable and value for money public infrastructure
  • Sustainability recognises new knowledge or solutions that focus on sustainable outcomes for the community, especially solutions that cross traditional boundaries of ecological and social science.
  • Achievement by an individual recognises outstanding individual achievement to effect improvements in the sector and/or the community.
  • Annual reports recognises excellence in annual reporting.

Premier's Public Sector Awards categories
